My Equipment

Lately I've been asked what I shoot with, which is extremely flattering because I still see myself as quite a beginner. None the less, I wanted to share with anyone who is interested which camera bodies I have and what lenses I use most often.

I have the Canon 40D

I just recently got the Canon 5D Mark II

My 7 lenses are:

The Canon 85mm f/1.2 L

The Canon 50mm f/1.4

Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 L

Canon 24-105mm f/4 L

Canon 135mm f/2 L

Canon 85mm f/1.8

Canon 100mm f/2.8 L IS Macro

  7. yes which one is your favorite? What is your favorite editing program? I am surprised you don't have a 200mm lens or a 300mm? Is there no need? How does the 80mm work for you? I have the 50mm 1.4 lens but how is that compared to the 80mm?

  8. Oh boy! That's a tough question. I am in love with my Macro lens (the 100mm). It just does amazing things. The bokeh is beautiful and it can focus on such small intricate details. I really love the 85mm 1.8 as well. It produces lovely images and is fast. It's hard to pick a favorite because I use all of them for different things. The 50mm is great for indoor use because of the focal range and the ability to have a wide open aperture. The 85mm is better for outside pictures in my opinion. It's a little too long to use inside just because of space.

  9. Catherine, Another lens question . . . I have the 24-70 and I noticed you have it and also the 24-105. Can you tell me which one you use more, and why? I can't afford both but I have wondered if it might be better to have the 24-105? I really want the 70-200 2:8 L (drool!) I have lots of sports to photograph! Thanks for sharing which of those two you like better! ps it is worth starting to hint about a new camera? I have the 40d also.
